Damariscove Island Stewards – 2017
The Boothbay Region Land Trust is seeking a pair of qualified island caretakers to help with the management and stewardship of Damariscove Island, a nearly treeless island located five miles southeast of Boothbay Harbor.

The stewards (caretakers) will live in a rustic cabin and will be responsible for monitoring recreational activity, providing stewardship services, and educating island visitors about Damariscove Island’s cultural and natural history and also informing island visitors about the missions of the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC).
Qualified applicants must be self-reliant, able to live in isolated/primitive conditions, and must enjoy communicating with many types of people. Familiarity with Maine coastal flora, fauna and culture are important to the position. Experience with basic grounds maintenance and carpentry tools are integral to the job.
This is a 10-week seasonal position that will be shared by two people working closely together for the duration of the recreational boating season (10 days on and 4 days off). Each caretaker will receive a small living stipend, paid every two weeks.
