includes the Ocean Point Preserve among 144 acres of undeveloped land scattered throughout Ocean Point.
The pond and surroundings, once an ice-making site, designated by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as a significant waterfowl and wading bird habitat, is home to threatened birds including the black-crowned night heron and breeding black ducks. Vernal pools provide habitat for amphibians and woodlands provide cover for deer and other wildlife.
