The scholarship, named in memory of Lois Barge, a BRLT founder, and Ruth McKee, a longtime board member, is available to residents of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Southport or Edgecomb. Although there is no age limit, funds must be used to further ones education in the scientific study of the environment. Past scholarships have ranged from $100 to $1,000 and have helped students attend Chewonki, environmental camps and a number of different colleges. These monies are awarded annually, and are often granted to more than one student in any given year. Interested applicants are asked to send a letter to the BRLT Scholarship Committee explaining the program they wish to attend, their planned course of study, what they hope to learn and how the program is related to the environment. Letters should be mailed to: Boothbay Region Land Trust, PO Box 183, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538
