Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) is pleased to announce its purchase of a 32-acre saltwater farm located on Hodgdon Cove in Boothbay Harbor!
After much planning, this purchase was made to preserve an integral part of the heritage of the Boothbay Peninsula for the benefit of the entire community.
While the preservation of this unique property is critical, we also believe it is important to provide public access to this outstanding place. Once a new access road has been installed, the farmhouse repaired and trails established, the BRLT staff will be onsite to support year-round, free-of-charge public access for the entire community. This new preserve is ideal for outdoor recreation, particularly winter activities including sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. It is also the goal of the Land Trust to ensure that this property will serve everyone, regardless of age or physical condition.
BRLT worked with the sellers in order to obtain very favorable financing to help with the purchase of this property and also meet their required timeline. The Land Trust is in the beginning stages of a capital campaign to raise the funds necessary to support the property acquisition and improvements.
