About Thorpe Preserve
There is a small parking area on the road leading to the public boat ramp. A short trail ascends steeply up switchbacks to a hill overlooking Townsend Gut and the Southport Bridge. This section is challenging due to its steepness, but it is only 0.1 miles. Across the road is another short trail that leads to stone steps that descend to a beach on Harbor side.
