About Oak Point Farm
Situated on 2,000 feet of coastline on Hodgdon Cove, this unique 32-acre preserve is the last remaining undeveloped saltwater farm in Boothbay Harbor. The spectacular property serves as headquarters for BRLT and the nucleus to our network of preserves throughout the region.
In addition to its exceptional waterfront, Oak Point Farm contains a 2-acre freshwater pond, fields, and forests with a universal access trail system. Situated on the historic property is an early 1800s farmhouse that serves as BRLT’s visitor center as well as a year-round nature center and event meeting space. Surrounding the farmhouse are heirloom apple trees, fields, and other evidence of the property’s farming history.
Oak Point Farm offers year-round activities. Visitors can enjoy universally accessible trails that meander through fields, woods and waterfront, or use the benches and picnic tables to simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The property offers a vast assortment of natural habitats for wildlife observation: on any given day ducks and beavers can be spotted utilizing the fresh water pond and a wide variety of sea and land bird species make it a perfect spot for birders. Water access is provided with a deep water dock and three moorings, as well as space for launching kayaks. In winter, trails are open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and the slope in front of the seasonal cottage is ideal for sledding.
Public restrooms are accessible in the farmhouse weekdays between 9am-4:30pm. During these hours, staff are on hand to provide general information and answer questions. Educational programming and events are scheduled throughout the year, including lectures and indoor classroom activities in the farmhouse. Please see our calendar of events for current schedules.
